Our aim is to help young people to learn to make decisions and manage transitions as learners and workers. It is essential that the school contributes in preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experience of adult life. Our careers programme provides the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices and achieve economic wellbeing in later life. The impact will be measured as we track student destinations, focus on preventing NEET (not in education, employment or training), audit our programme against Gatsby benchmarks in addition to our internal processes around attainment, personal development and wellbeing.

We take great pride in our excellent destination figures, where year on year we are significantly better than the national average.

In Year 11 you are expected to attend assemblies and lunchtime drop in sessions to gather as much information as possible about post 16 education in the area. This will enable you to make informed choices for your future. Sessions are also arranged in personal statement writing and the apprenticeship application process.
Application forms are completed by Christmas and you will attend all the interviews arranged over the next few months. Then in August when you get your results you will make your choice.

In Year 10 you will have the opportunity to spend a day at a local college and experience “Life beyond St. Bede’s”. You will also take part in a week of business and enterprise activities to prepare you for the next step

In Year 9 you will attend the annual careers fair to “open your eyes” to the myriad possibilities for your future choices. You will also have the opportunity to begin the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.

This careers page is a live link to employers and providers in our region and nationally. There is a chat facility to ask questions too! Click here or see the link below to find out more!
