Academic Intervention

St Bede’s Mission Statement

“We will nurture the growth of each pupil in our care through the artistic, academic, creative, practical, social, moral, physical and spiritual aspects of school life.”

Academic Intervention at St Bede’s Catholic High School offers assistance to pupils who are in need of extra support to help them achieve. Pupil achievement is regularly tracked via the school’s data collection. Following the data reports, pupils who require further support within curriculum areas are identified. If there is a need for further enhanced provision then pupils may receive academic intervention. The Academic Intervention extra provision takes the forms listed below:

  • small group tuition for literacy or numeracy in Years 7 to 11
  • peer tutoring for literacy and numeracy in Years 7and 8
  • academic mentoring of pupils
  • revision classes after school, on Saturday mornings and during holidays
  • departmental intervention initiatives for specific subjects
  • study skills for Years 9 to 11.
