Year 9

Caring for Your Child

The current Year 9 cohort have had two very successful years at St Bede’s and have set very high standards in terms of academic achievement, appearance and their social and spiritual development. They have shown a commitment to extra-curricular activities and have been extremely enthusiastic in the whole process of fundraising events.

Looking forward, Year 9 is a critical time in a student’s development as they begin to consider and eventually choose their options. This is even more important with the impact of recent curriculum changes. Over the next few months options events will take place to help you and your child make the most suitable choices. With such important decisions to be made the simple message to be successful is for students to focus, to work hard in lessons and to take responsibility for their learning.

Students can help themselves by being organised and using their planner.

As Year Leader, I am keen to offer any guidance and pastoral care which the pupils may need and both pupils and guardians should not hesitate to approach me. Alongside me, I have the Year 9 team, made up of 5 dedicated form tutors who will remain with their forms until they leave in year 11. Additional staff will also assist in helping Year 9 be another successful year.

We will run competitions each term to champion attendance and effort in lessons and we will celebrate these achievements in assemblies.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or any news about your child you would like celebrated. You can do so by ringing the school office on 01695 570335, or by e-mailing me directly on
