Year 7

Caring for Your Child

Welcome to Year 7

Dear Parents and Pupils,
Welcome to St Bede's and Year 7.
Starting secondary school is very exciting but also a little daunting as you make the transition from a smaller primary setting to a bigger school environment. I have met all of you in your primary schools and on our taster day and I hope this has answered any questions you may have had and erased any nerves about starting in September. What we promise you at St Bede's is that you will be part of a warm and friendly school community offering all the support you need to help you enjoy school life and to fulfil your potential academically, spiritually and socially. I hope you are looking forward to spending the next 5 years here and rest assured you will be made very welcome; your happiness, health and well-being are important to us.

You will meet lots of staff and pupils at the start of Year 7, hopefully building friendships that will last a lifetime! You will spend time at the beginning of each day with your form group; what I like to call your school family! You will then move onto your classes in your teaching groups.
Your school planner will help you with your organisation and will need to be signed each week by someone at home. Your form tutor will then check that you are using this correctly. Please have your school planner with you every day. You will also need a pencil case with school stationary and a calculator, you will find a list on the Year 7 pastoral notice board.
We will run competitions each term to champion attendance and effort in lessons and we will celebrate these achievements in assemblies.
As Year Leader I am keen to offer any guidance and pastoral care which the pupils may need and both pupils and guardians should not hesitate to approach me. Alongside me, I have the year 7 team, made up of 5 dedicated form tutors who are also available to support our students through their St Bede's journey. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or any news about your child that you would like to be celebrated. You can do so by ringing the school office on 01695 570335 or by e-mailing me directly at
