Die Schwebebahn – suspended electric railway

This is a unique railway system in Wuppertal (a town near Düsseldorf). It is the oldest electric railway with hanging carriages in the world and transports over 30 million people a year. It is suspended at 8 metres off the ground on a track around the town.
