Chaplain and Chaplaincy

Clare Guidi is our lay chaplain and she co-ordinates chaplaincy activities.

At St Bede’s we have an inclusive, school-wide approach to chaplaincy. All staff and pupils participate in chaplaincy activities, with as many opportunities as possible for pupils to lead and be involved in chaplaincy events.

Fr Godric Timney OSB is our priest chaplain who generously and enthusiastically supports the school in many ways.

What does a chaplain do?

“As lay chaplain, my role is to animate the Catholic life of the school. This takes many different guises. I resource and facilitate collective worship in school. I coordinate the Retreat Programme. I give pupils different opportunities to live out their Christian calling, for example through the fundraising efforts of the Dream Team and the annual tea-party for elderly people.

I link with the wider church, working together with the diocese and local parishes. This has included the Lourdes pilgrimage, church and cathedral visits, Eucharistic Minister training, catechesis. I also have time to listen to pupils who, for many different reasons, may need someone to talk to.” Clare Guidi
